Thick snow chokes porch in Hamburg, New York as ‘historic’ snowfall expected

A snowstorm battered parts of western New York on Friday, November 18, as the area braced for “potentially historic” snowfall, the National Weather Service (NWS) said. This shot of Aaron Cooke, taken in Hamburg, shows the snow forming around his house on Friday morning. Snowfall rates of three inches per hour were possible throughout Friday, according to the NWS, with snow totals in excess of 4 feet expected in Buffalo. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared parts of the state a “state of emergency” and described the storm as “dangerous” and “life-threatening.” Photo credit: Aaron Cooke via Storyful
