Tweeps aren’t buying Balenciaga’s apology for controversial ads

Luxury fashion house Balenciaga apologized after its BDSM children’s collection got the middle finger for “sexualizing children”.

However, tweeps don’t believe Balenciaga’s apology, citing the fashion brand as only apologizing because “they got caught”.

The fashion house then pulled its Christmas campaign from its website after receiving backlash.

“We condemn in the strongest terms child abuse in any form”

In her Instagram story, Balenciaga apologized for “any insults” the ad campaign may have caused.

“We sincerely apologize for any offense our Christmas campaign may have caused. Our plush bear bags should not have been shown with children in this campaign. We immediately removed the campaign from all platforms.

“We apologize for displaying disturbing documents in our campaign. We take this matter very seriously and are taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set containing unauthorized items for our Spring 23 campaign photo shoot. We strongly condemn the abuse of children in any form. We stand for the safety and wellbeing of children,” the brand wrote.

The adverts supported Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection, which debuted at Paris Fashion Week, and featured two underage girls posing with teddy bears, who appear to be wearing BDSM-style harnesses.

The campaign was not well received and caused an uproar on social media.

“Balenciaga is very canceled in my eyes, I don’t care what explanation they come up with. Don’t mess with kids,” Gia wrote on Twitter.

“Balenciaga severed her ties with @kanyewest over a tweet. And yet do they expect us to just “accept their apologies” after being caught sexualizing children? They don’t apologize because they’re sorry. They apologize because they got caught,” tweeted American conservative activist CJ Pearson.
