Gunman in Paris opens fire, killing at least 2

According to city prosecutors, two people were killed and one man arrested after a shooting in central Paris on Friday.

Four other people were injured in the shooting, two seriously, according to prosecutors. Filming took place around midday on Rue d’Enghien, a narrow street in the 10th arrondissement of the French capital.

The arrested man was 69 years old, the public prosecutor said. His identity is still being verified, the bureau said, adding it had opened a murder investigation.

The Paris police prefecture advised residents to avoid the area and referred to an ongoing operation.

Emmanuel GrĂ©goire, deputy mayor of Paris, said on Twitter that a “gun attack” had taken place, but did not elaborate. “We are speaking to the police prefecture and the prosecutor’s office to understand what happened,” Mr Gregoire posted.
