6 amazing new things an iPhone can do with this iOS update

Apple outdoes itself once again with its latest iOS16.2 update for iPhone devices. New iOS downloads aren’t just important for security updates, sometimes they’re packed with amazing new features that bring your iPhone to life in new ways.

They already added a ton of features with the previous iOS16.1 update, including iCloud Shared Photo Library and support for Apple Fitness+. I’m cutting through all the new things to share highlights in iOS 16.2 update that can improve your life.

1. Sing Apple Music

Perhaps one of the most exciting new tools of the iOS16.2 update is the Apple Music Sing feature. This is a karaoke feature that will be available to Apple Music listeners. It allows you to sing along to millions of songs on the Apple Music streaming platform by letting you lower the lead vocal volume and take control as the lead singer.

Music Sing is compatible with any iPhone 11 model or newer, select iPads and the latest Apple TV 4K.

2. Enhanced Privacy

Extended data protection is an optional feature that comes with the update and allows users to do this Extension of end-to-end encryption to various iCloud data categories, including iMessage, Notes and Photos.

This will greatly increase cloud data security and give users the ability to protect the vast majority of their data, giving users less worry about their information being stolen or released without their permission.

3. Freeform App

APPLE’S EMERGENCY SOS VIA SATELLITE FUNCTION IS NOW LIVE. HOW IT WORKS.

Another fun feature will be available in the digital whiteboard app called Freeform. The app allows you to draw or paste sticky notes for yourself on an infinite canvas. The app allows you to share a board with up to 100 people who can make their own additions and comments.

All collaborators must use an Apple device to access the creation. You can also insert text boxes, shapes, photos, videos, links, PDFs and more. The app will also be available for iPad and Mac devices in case users want more space to create than their smaller iPhone screens.

4. Lock screen widgets

Two new lock screen widgets will be available with the iOS 16.2 update. One will be for them sleep app and the other for the health app. The Sleep app widget lets you see all your recent sleep schedules and phases, while the Health app gives you a quick overview of your medication schedule when you need it.

5. Always on display

This feature is only available on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models, but allows you to hide your wallpaper and notifications when Always On Display mode is enabled.

If you want more privacy, Always on Display mode turns lock screens black so no one can see what’s on your screen. You can also easily change this by checking the Show wallpaper or Show notifications options.

6. AirDrop Settings

AirDrop is a super handy feature when you want to send or receive pictures and videos quickly. Be careful though, because it can be bad news if these images and videos get to the wrong person.

That is why iOS16.2 Restriction of AirDrop’s previous setting “Everyone”.. The option now just has a more protective “All for 10 minutes” function so that unwanted content from strangers can be restricted.

After 10 minutes, people can only AirDrop pictures and videos to their contacts.

When was the iOS 16.2 update released?

Apple released the latest update on Tuesday 12/13. iPhone users should have received a notification in their Settings app once the update was available to install, or you can go to Settings > Software update download and install manually.
