Recipe of the day: delicious recipes for cocktail hour



If there’s a reason to celebrate, now is the time. With the Christmas festivities over and the New Year approaching, a glass of a perfectly mixed cocktail would end the year.

These recipes add a fun holiday twist and are perfect for low-key holiday cocktail hour.

Champagne Margaritas

ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 c silver tequila
  • 1/2 cup orange liqueur
  • 1 bottle of champagne (about 3 cups)
  • Lime wedges, for rhyme
  • salt, for rhyme

directions

  1. Place all ingredients in a large pitcher and stir well.
  2. Run lime wedges around the rim of each champagne flute and dip the rims in coarse salt.
  3. Divide margaritas among flutes and garnish with lime wedges.

Cranberry mimosa

ingredients

  • 1 lime, halved
  • 2 TBSP. sugar
  • 1 cup sweetened cranberry juice
  • 1 bottle of champagne
  • 12 fresh cranberries
  • 4 small sprigs of fresh rosemary

directions

  1. Line champagne flutes with lime and dip in sugar. Pour 1/4 cup of cranberry juice into each glass and top off with champagne.
  2. Poke a hole through the cranberries with a toothpick. Thread rosemary skewers through cranberries and garnish with mimosas.

Mimosa Margaritas

ingredients

  • 2 cups of orange juice
  • 1/2 cup tequila
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • Lime wedge, for rimming glasses
  • Coarse salt, to the rim of glasses
  • 1 bottle of champagne or prosecco
  • Orange and lime slices for serving

directions

  1. In a pitcher, combine the orange juice, tequila, and lime juice and stir.
  2. Rim the rims of the glass with lime and dip in salt. Pour in the orange juice mixture and top up with champagne.
  3. Place sliced ‚Äč‚Äčoranges and limes in glasses and serve.

Tequila Sunrise Mimosas

ingredients

  • Orange slices, for rim and garnish
  • Sugar, for rimming glass
  • 2 ounces. tequila
  • 1 bottle of champagne
  • 1/2 c. orange juice
  • A few squirts of grenadine

directions

  1. Line glasses with a slice of orange and dip in sugar.
  2. Pour 30ml tequila into each flute and fill halfway up with champagne.
  3. Top up with orange juice and a splash of grenadine.
  4. Garnish with an orange slice and serve.
