Miss Vietnam Phuong Anh hit for a see-through dress at the 2022 beauty pageant

A beauty queen was slammed by angry onlookers for wearing a ‘see-through’ dress on stage.

Organizers of the Miss Vietnam 2022 pageant had to apologize after an uproar over a contestant’s sheer dress.

Model Phuong Anh wore a “skinny” yellow dress with ultra-sheer material showing off her body underneath.

The 24-year-old had been on stage to give contestant Trinh Thuy Linh the first runner-up title.

Phuong – the first runner-up in the 2020 competition – said she was ashamed of the outfit, adding she “learned a lesson” in her fashion choice.

Event organizers apologized to angry fans over the controversial dress.

“It is very unfortunate that an incident happened to runner-up Pham Ngoc Phuong Anh’s team,” they said in a statement shared by VnExpress.

“From certain angles, the dress created an unflattering image on stage.

“The organizers of Miss Vietnam 2022 apologize to the audience and fans for not being able to foresee and prevent the incident.”

The deputy head of the organizing committee, Pham Kim Dung, claimed that the outfits worn on stage are usually chosen very carefully before the event.

However, she said that on this occasion not all the lights were on during the rehearsal, meaning they didn’t seem to see any problems with the dress.

Social media platforms were flooded with comments from angry viewers furious at the dress, while others rushed to defend Phuong Anh.

“The ridiculous profanity leading to the cultural repulsion of the Miss Vietnam pageant,” wrote one Twitter user.

“This outfit is not even suitable for a beauty pageant,” said another on Facebook.

“It doesn’t look good on TV. She should be more careful next time.”

“She was wearing a bodysuit underneath, no underwear so I don’t see anything inappropriate here,” one posted.

“People are overreacting. I think that the organizers are also to blame for this incident. They have a team to monitor the outfits and they still let this happen.”

The famous Miss Universe pageant underwent some groundbreaking new changes earlier this year.

For the first time in the institution’s history, the competition has expanded its eligibility rules to allow married women and mothers to enter.

The historical changes will take effect for the first time in the 2023 competition.

The current 70-year rule states that only single women between the ages of 18 and 28 who have never been married or had children can apply.

However, the age group will remain the same, a source close to the organization confirmed Insider.

“We all believe that women should have an impact on their lives and that a person’s personal choices should not be a barrier to their success,” reads an internal memo from The National.
