Physical therapist Tim Dettman says people should start lifting weights in 2023 for “health reasons,” not “aesthetics.”

“That’s to prevent chronic disease, prevent diabetes, treat your arthritis, treat your back pain,” Mr Dettman told Sky News Australia.

He said “the average gym-goer will go from being a 25-year-old wearing a small singlet” to older people who want to “improve” their “quality of life.”
