Satellite imagery captures ‘strong storm system’ approaching US West Coast

A satellite has captured images of a “powerful storm system” approaching the west coast of the United States on Wednesday, January 4, the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) said. These images, showing the system, were released by CIRA, working in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency across California in response to the storm, and the National Weather Service issued several warnings along the California coast. Credit: CIRA via Storyful
