Ezra Miller on Friday agreed to a plea deal to avoid jail time in connection with a May 2022 incident in which they allegedly stole alcohol from a neighbor’s Vermont home.
The ‘The Flash’ actor pleaded not guilty to those charges in October, which could have carried a maximum sentence of 25 years.
As part of the deal, Miller agreed to plead guilty to unlawful trespassing, a misdemeanor, and serve a one-year probation and pay a $500 fine. Her prison sentence of around 90 days will be suspended for a year. As part of the agreement, Miller agreed not to consume alcohol and to continue with her rehabilitation efforts, which focused on her mental health treatment.
“Ezra would like to thank the court and community for their trust and patience during this process, and would like to once again acknowledge the love and support they have received from their family and friends, who continue to be an important presence in their ongoing psychic journey.” health,” attorney Lisa Shelkrot said in a statement to Miller.
Miller has made headlines in recent years after a pattern of troubling behavior and allegations of wrongdoing.
The first incident happened in 2020 after a video surfaced showing them violently choking a fan. Incidents of inappropriate behavior escalated in 2022 when they were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and harassment at a Hawaii karaoke bar.
Shortly thereafter, Miller was arrested again after an altercation in which they were accused of throwing a chair and injuring a woman. In addition, there were allegations of grooming against Miller.
Warner Bros., the studio behind “The Flash,” had remained quiet during Miller’s arrests in early 2022. However, sources within the company said emergency meetings were held last April to discuss their controversies and how the studio should proceed. It was determined at the time that the film would remain on the board, but Warner Bros. would pause future projects with the actor. “The Flash” is scheduled for release on June 16th.
Miller has been associated with the DCEU since the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016 and has been a key part of the Warner Bros.-produced Fantastic Beasts film series with two films remaining.
The DCEU is still on the move, however, as James Gunn and Peter Safran have taken charge of projects connected to the superhero universe. The duo is expected to announce official plans for the future in early 2023.
