Lifeline voice, text and chat are unavailable due to a technical issue

Australians facing a mental health crisis are unable to access Lifeline services tonight as the service grapples with a “technical issue”.

Those who feel their lives are in danger are urged to reach out to Triple Zero for help.

The organization’s voice, text, and chat services are currently unavailable due to the issue, which has not been explained in detail.

“We are working hard to resolve the issue and get the service back online as soon as possible,” Lifeline said on Twitter.

Lifeline didn’t say when its systems might be back online.

It’s also unclear if the organization was the subject of a cyberattack.

13 Yarn, Lifeline’s indigenous crisis hotline, was also affected by the technical difficulties.

The Kids Helpline is not affected by the outage as it is operated by a separate company.

There’s more to come.
