The Toyota Prius enters the 2023 model year as a completely rebuilt model. With a sleek new exterior design, a redesigned interior and a reinforced hybrid powertrain, this new Prius is designed for style, performance and efficiency. It’s the rebirth of the hybrid – without compromise. Designed to win drivers’ hearts at first sight, the all-new Prius sends a message with its new shape. Its sleek silhouette, low roofline, sleek body panels and flared rear end are balanced proportionately by standard 19-inch wheels. Its interior features a clean, modern design combined with high-tech displays for a futuristic appearance. All in all, it’s a progressive, sporty new Prius designed to inspire the senses. Under the hood, the 2023 Prius is also turning heads, with a larger 2.0-liter engine and a revised hybrid system that delivers over 60% more combined system horsepower, with 196 net horsepower (up from 121 horsepower). Maximum engine torque for this generation increases nearly 16% from 120 to 139 lb.-ft. on all models. Torque from the second electric motor-generator, which drives the front wheels and regenerates the battery under braking, also increases by over 20% – going from 120 to 152 lb.-ft. The Prius makes its power gains while keeping it lean at the pump. Despite being more powerful, the new 2023 Prius remains as economical as the previous 4WD model with a combined NRCan fuel consumption of 4.8 l/100 km. The AWD system also gets performance gains with 50% more torque in the rear engine, increasing from 41 to 62 lb.-ft. and move 40 hp (previously 7 hp).
