What does it mean when you see the orange dot at the top of your iPhone?

When an orange dot appears in the top-right corner of your screen — just above your cellular bar — it means an app is using your iPhone microphone.
It can be any third party app or even if you are using the basic functions of your phone e.g. B. making calls, enlisting the help of Siri, or whenever you use voice-to-text to dictate text messages to your friends and family.

If you see the orange dot, you can:
- Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to see which apps are using your microphone
- You will see the orange icon at the top of your screen with the device next to it
- In the following case, the app using the microphone is the iPhone

What does it mean when you see the green dot at the top of your iPhone?
If you see a green dot in the top-right corner of your screen — just above your cellular bar — it means an app is using either that camera or the camera with the microphone on your phone.
Which iPhone apps are using your camera?
- If you see the green dot, like the orange dot, you can:
- Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to see which apps are using your camera or camera with the microphone
- You will see the green icon at the top of your screen with the device next to it
- In the following case, the app using the camera is Facetime

What does it mean when you see the green dot at the top of your Android device?
If you have an Android 12 or later, you’ll notice that there’s just a green dot indicator (not an orange dot) in the top-right corner of your screen that lets you know when the phone’s camera or microphone is being used by one apartment When an app accesses your camera or microphone for the first time, you’ll see a camera icon and a microphone icon before it simply changes to a green dot. This dot stays on as long as the app is using your microphone or camera.

When you see the green dot you can:
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to view thenotification bar
- Click the green dot and you’ll see which apps are using your camera or microphone

What if an app is using my microphone or camera and I can’t find it to delete the app?
If you see your microphone and/or camera being used even though you don’t have an app open, it probably means that an app has permission to use those features on your phone even when it’s not in use, or your The phone may have been hacked.
